The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) provides a variety of search and rescue services on land, by sea and air delivered by teams’ of career and volunteers primarily in support of the Western Australian Police (WAPOL).
DFES also manages RAC Rescue, Western Australia’s (WA) only dedicated emergency rescue helicopter service. This service responds to a broad range of emergencies from major car crash incidents to ship to shore marine rescues.
WA is a vast landscape of extreme temperatures made up of remote, inaccessible and often harsh terrain creating a challenging environment for the dedicated people who undertake rescue missions every day.
