Organisational Structure

The Emergency Services Minister in Western Australia is the Honourable. Reece Raymond Whitby MLA.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) is overseen by the Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner, who is responsible for the organisation's strategic direction, operations and functions.

There are four Commands that coordinate and deliver DFES' key services to the community:

Corporate Services

  • Asset Planning and Delivery
  • Business Services​
  • Human Resources
  • Information and Communications Technology
  • Media and Corporate Communications

Operations

  • Country
  • Metropolitan
  • Operations Capability

This command is responsible for the management and delivery of on the ground services incorporating the:

Rural Fire Division

  • Bushfire Centre of Excellence
  • Bushfire Risk Management
  • Bushfire Technical Services
  • Land Use Planning
  • Office of Bushfire Risk Management (OBRM)

Strategy and Emergency Management

  • Resilience and Recovery
  • Governance and Strategy
  • Policy, Regulation and Legal Services
  • Learning and Development
  • Risk, Capability and Analysis
